Using email and surfing the World Wide Web
This is considered an advanced course.
1st DAY OF CLASS: Bring a flash/thumb drive with you on the first day of class (512 MB minimum)
The course consists of demonstrations and hands-on.
The Course Covers:
- A brief history of the Internet, what it is, how it works, and who pays for it.
- Email with attachments - three e-mail clients:
- Outlook Express
- AOL
- NetZero
- Three Internet Service Provider types:
- Mindspring/Earthlink
- AOL
- NetZero
- Three Internet Browsers:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer
- Netscape
- AOL
- Seven web site sources and search techniques.
- Search engines, how they work and how to use them.
- Buying and Selling on the Internet (Cautions).
- Anti-Virus, Firewalls, Spyware and Adware Internet use protection.
Each class meets 5 times (sessions), 3 hours per session (15 hours total).
Each class holds six (6) students - one per computer.
